What are the benefits of being a CJG member?

The Canadian Jewellery Group has 93 retail members with 110 jewellery stores across Canada. Our members are respected, well-established jewellers with many years of industry experience. CJG’s ability to negotiate the very best terms, prices and services with our vendors empowers our members allowing them to compete with national chain stores. Each retail member continues to operate their unique stores independently (many of our members are family businesses) while taking advantage of the strength of CJG’s group buying power.

Why should you join the Canadian Jewellery Group?

What is in it for you as a retail jeweller in Canada today?

Big Purchasing Power

The combined volume of the Group enables the members to purchase more efficiently, which creates more sales and profits – both in the short and long term. We seek discounts directly off-invoice, as well as extended repayment terms, prompt-payment discounts, and volume rebates from our suppliers. Our members reap immediate, tangible benefits by purchasing through the group with immediate reimbursement of discounts to their members accounts.

Volume Rebates

The CJG negotiates volume rebates with each supplier and the rebate is returned to members in the next fiscal year. These rebates are based on sales volumes that are unachievable for an average independent. For the CJG to negotiate, it is in the members’ best interest to support the suppliers that have been endorsed by the CJG and purchase as much as possible through them.

Exclusive Annual Buying Show

We hold our exclusive buying show annually in Toronto to coincide with our Annual General Meeting. It is a great opportunity to network with CJG endorsed suppliers and fellow retail members, and attend educational industry seminars. This event includes our Annual President’s Gala Dinner & Awards including the National Designer of the Year Award.

Improve and Simplify your Bookkeeping

The CJG simplifies your bookkeeping by consolidating all transactions from group suppliers into a single, streamlined process. Each month, members receive a detailed statement outlining current and deferred amounts, available discounts, and tools for managing their entire account. Rather than multiple invoices from various suppliers, the total balance is summarized into one invoice from the CJG, making it easy to manage and pay just one invoice each month.

Valuable Member Networking

The free flow of information between members is one of the most important advantages the Group has to offer. Within the Group, generally only one company in a particular area is accepted for membership. Members enjoy discussing successes, challenges, time and cost savings procedures and other industry knowledge with other members. This leads to tangible benefits, and these savings are often underestimated. Our secure private Facebook Group – the CJG Retail Members Group- is available 24/7 for our retail members to communicate with each other.

Communications

Members are encouraged to continuously engage with each other through our private Facebook Group. Designed specifically for member-to-member communications,  it is a quick and effective way to get answers to pertinent questions and to reach out to others for advice. The CJG head office also publishes The Link membership newsletter bi-monthly with industry news, trends, and information updates.
